Agricultural rentals for 2024/25 would have a slight increase in quintals per hectare compared to last year, and would be positioned close to their historical peak, but when measured in dollars they would suffer a fall , related to the lower international price of soybeans .
This is according to the first survey of leases for the 2024/25 season released by the Córdoba Grain Exchange.
Although the data is limited to that province only, it can be used as a reference of national scope , given that it is the second largest grain producer in the country.
AGRICULTURAL RENTALS: MORE IN QUINTALES, LESS IN US DOLLARS
Specifically, the survey of leases carried out through consultations with collaborators of the Cordoba Stock Exchange, preliminarily yielded an average of 12 quintals of soybeans (qq/ha) per hectare for the entire province, with a peak of up to 18 quintals in the Marcos Juárez department , one of the most productive areas in the country.

This means half a quintal more than in the last campaign and the same figure as in the 2022/23 season , which marked the peak in this value so far.
However, “considering the soybean harvest price, which for the May 2025 position would be US$30.9 per quintal, it is estimated that the rental cost for the new season would be US$371 per hectare. In this way, the average rental cost would decrease by 5% compared to the previous season ,” the study adds.
Thus, it is interesting to note that, although the 12 qq/ha requested for leases coincide with those observed during the 2022/23 season, the cost in dollars per hectare would be US$167 below that cycle , a consequence of the drop in the expected harvest price of soybeans.
